Rachel Zaurov

B.A., McGill University, 2017
J.D., Osgoode Hall Law School, 2022

Rachel joined Goulart Workplace Lawyers in 2023 after completing her articles with a labour law firm in Toronto. She received her J.D. from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2022, after having previously completed her B.A. at McGill University, where she majored in political science. Following her time at McGill, Rachel returned to her native New York, where she worked as a Development and Communications Associate in the non-profit sector for two years before moving back to Canada to attend Osgoode in 2019.

During law school, Rachel served as a Senior Editor of the Osgoode Hall Law Journal, and worked as a research assistant for two Osgoode professors in the fields of refugee, environmental and labour law.

As a first year, Rachel volunteered at the FCJ Refugee Centre through Pro Bono Students Canada, conducting intake and drafting legal submissions for refugee claimants. Rachel went on to complete a year-long legal placement with Greenpeace Canada through Osgoode’s Environmental Justice & Sustainability Legal Clinic during her second year. In the summer before her third year, Rachel began working for the Human Rights Legal Support Centre, where she would remain for the entirety of her subsequent Fall semester – completing a full-time, full-term clinical student placement as part of Osgoode's Anti-Discrimination Law Intensive Program.

During this time, in addition to assisting clients with all manner of human rights claims under the auspices of the HRLSC ‘proper,’ Rachel completed a concurrent assignment with the HRLSC’s Sexual Harassment and Assault Resource Exchange program – an in-house, specialized service offering tailored legal support to clients subject to sexual harassment and/or assault in the workplace.

Across eight cumulative months at the Centre, Rachel gained broad front-line experience in legal advocacy, human rights and labour/administrative law processes, including intake, drafting, and providing assistance at all stages of a human rights claim – including directly assisting with representing clients at mediations and hearings before the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario.

On her off days, you'll find Rachel immersed in a novel or dialogue-driven film, fantasizing about her next hike, judging that comedian’s latest Netflix special, or exploring Toronto’s vibrant cultural scene.
